JULY 2011 - I'm happy to report an overall better first half of the year than 2010. I have closed several smaller condo-townhome deals so far this year. Most of the units were either short-sales or forclosures which can take a few months to close. Many banks are still very tight with there loans and I have had a couple cash transactions which always seem to workout quickly. My partner John Popelka is working very closely with Dick Dobson or Dobson Homes and buying residential lots in many Mount Pleasant neighborhoods. Dobson is building new semi-custom single family homes approx. 2,400-2,600 Square feet for under $350,000 and being very successful!
Many of my clients like to fact that I grew up in the Northeast and feel comfortable working together. The Baby Boomers are making the drive south and finding some excellent deals on homes and commercial rates. The high taxes and extra-long winters have been the main contributors to the migration south...this reminds me of a sales slogan we used while working on Seabrook Island in the resort business...Come for a weekend - Stay for a Lifetime! JULY 2010 - The general real estate market has been flat so far in 2010. Most buyers and builders are taking baby steps in this market. The interest rates remain at all-time lows. JSP got off to an excellent start buy purchasing eight lots from the bank in a small community called Phillips Park located in central Mt. Pleasant with a short ten minute drive to one of Charleston best beaches - Sullivans Island. Phillips Park is a great location and the semi-custom new homes start under $350,000. See my featured listing page for more details. Our newest community is also located in Mt. Pleasant and is called Carriage Hill Landing just off Hwy. 17N and Hwy. 41. This new development is now in the construction stage and we should have the first home finished in the Fall of 2010. The thirty new homes will start at approx. $174,900 - 239,900. November 2009 - Charleston Welcomes Boeing - North Charleston has been selected to be the new site for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner assembly plant! This is huge news for the Charleston region. The impact has the potential to pump billions into the Lowcountry's economy, lure new business to the area and trigger ripple effects that could impact roads, schools, home sales, lot/land sales, and commercial development! I understand that South Carolina is already home to nearly 80 Boeing suppliers and vendors. The new plant should attract many more aerospace suppliers that need to be close to fill the Boeing orders. Its said that over 3,800 jobs will be created from the plant itself!

About Mike:
Mike was born and raised in upstate New York. Just south of the Canadian boarder in the foothills of the Adirondacks in the small village of Malone. Mike's work ethic came at a young age working in the family grocery store "IGA" which still is operating today! After graduating from Plattsburgh State University in 1977... Mike sought a Masters Degree at Arizona State in Tempe, Arizona and ended up living and working in Scottsdale for the next sixteen years. Mike started working as a waiter at the Scottsdale Conference Resort in 1977 and worked his way up the corporate ladder and was the Director of National Sales in charge of three conference resort properties located in Scottsdale, Colorado, and Virginia. Mike left the warm dry climate of the desert in January 1993 to hit the beach and manage the sales & marketing team at The Seabrook Island Resort just minutes south from historical Charleston, South Carolina. Seabrook was a real challenge and all the hard work paid off after ten years managing the island's resort. Living in Charleston has been the most enjoyable years of my life...getting married to my wife Jennifer and raising two young children...Riley & Ellie here on Daniel Island. Mike's entire career has been based around building personal relationships with his corporate clients. His professional sales and marketing background has been vital to his new passion...buying & selling real estate in the Charleston regional market. Mike's other passions include: golfing, running, cycling, coaching, and hanging with the family!
